This groundbreaking technology leverages artificial intelligence to enable affordable and scalable screening for rheumatic heart disease (RHD) using only a standard 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG). By eliminating the need for echocardiography, which is often inaccessible in resource-limited settings, the technology allows for earlier detection of RHD, enabling timely intervention and reducing unnecessary diagnostic procedures. Currently in the diagnostic development stage, the model has demonstrated strong predictive performance using data collected over a decade at UCSF.
