Technology Description
Researchers at UCSD have produced bioinformatics middleware for working with protein and nucleic acid macromolecular structure data stored in the new standard mmCIF format now being supported by the Protein Data Bank. The software will be very useful to researchers in basic and applied research in biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, medical research, molecular biology and protein chemistry. The toolkit contains software for parsing mmCIF files, loading the molecular structure data into a relational database, translating the data into XML formatted files, and running an OMG standard LSR/MMS CORBA server. The software is written entirely in Java.Other Information
