Reporter Plasmid To Quantitate Filamentous-response-element (fre)-dependent Transcription

Abstract

To assay transcription from promoters under the control of Filamentous Response Elements (FREs) which comprise binding sites for the transcription factors Ste7 and Tec1, investigators at UCB constructed a plasmid (YEpU-FTyZ) in which expression of the E. coli lacZ gene is driven by the FRE of the transposon Ty1.
