Transition Metal Catalysts Bearing Phosphine Ligands, That Contain A Carba-Closo-Dodecaborate Substituent

Brief Description

Researchers at UCR have achieved the synthesis of phosphine ligands functionalized with related carba-closo-dodecaborate anions directly bound to the coordinating atom via the carborane hypercarbon. The first generation of such ligands, termed “Armor Plated” (AP) Phosphine Ligands have demonstrated their synthetic utility by the preparation of unique single component Au(I) catalysts with unprecedented activity for the hydroamination of alkynes with primary amines.  It is expected that this technology will lead to an entire family of transition metal catalysts with application in a broad range of industrial processes such as olefin metathesis and hydroformylation among others reactions.
